About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Site Manager to join a critical National Grid substation project in Melksham. Operating as part of a major energy infrastructure framework, you will take full ownership of site operations, ensuring delivery to the highest standards of safety, quality, and programme.

This role is ideal for a hands-on manager with a proven track record delivering civils works within the National Grid environment, particularly substation projects.

Key Responsibilities

· Day-to-day management of site operatives, subcontractors, and all site activities
· Development and implementation of safety documentation, including Construction Phase Plans, Site Quality Plans, RAMS
· Conduct site inductions, Toolbox Talks, and daily briefings
· Prepare and issue daily Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and authorise personnel to commence work
· Produce and maintain site-specific Risk and Method Statements
· Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion
· Carry out regular site inspections to monitor compliance with safety and quality standards
· Liaise effectively with contractors and the principal contractor's site team
· Attend weekly progress meetings and proactively resolve site issues or conflicts
· Maintain a comprehensive site diary and high standard of project records

Essential Experience & Qualifications

· Proven experience as a Civils Person in Charge of Site Management (PCSM) for National Grid projects
· Must hold NSI 6, NSI 8, HSG47 Substation, and Lifting Supervisor
· Desirable: SSE authorisation to minimum CATIC level
· Strong understanding of substation environments and associated civils delivery
· Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain programme discipline
