Hours: 07:30 - 17:30 (Approx. 45 hours per week)
Rate: £32 per hour

Overview:
We are recruiting for an experienced Competent Person / Civil Operative to support works within a live high-voltage National Grid substation environment. This role is critical in ensuring safe site access, coordination of deliveries, and compliance with National Grid safety procedures.

This opportunity has arisen due to increased project workload and requires a candidate with the correct National Grid competencies and civil experience within transmission infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
Act as the designated Competent Person within the substation work environment.
Manage and control access to a live HV substation in accordance with National Grid NSI Safety Rules.
Coordinate and supervise the safe access and egress of delivery vehicles and plant.
Carry out civil operative duties in line with groundworker requirements.
Ensure full compliance with HSG47 (Avoiding Danger from Underground Services).
Maintain safe systems of work at all times within a high-risk transmission setting.
Support site teams to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.

Essential Requirements:
NSI 6 & NSI 8 authorisations - mandatory
Previous experience working as a Competent Person within National Grid substations.
Civil / groundworks background within infrastructure or utilities projects.
Strong understanding of National Grid Safety Rules and live substation protocols.
Manual Handling certification.
Must already possess the correct tickets and competencies - candidates without these cannot be considered.
Full PPE required prior to attending site.

Additional Information:
Working within a live transmission environment - strict adherence to safety procedures is essential.
Long-term contract supporting a key UK energy infrastructure project.
Immediate availability preferred.
