Are you an experienced mechanical or electrical professional ready to take the lead?
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Chargehand to join our team working on a critical transmission project at Necton Substation. This is a hands-on, site-based role where you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of substation activities.
In this role, you will provide direct supervision and guidance to a team of operatives, ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
About You:
You are a proven professional with a solid background in either mechanical or electrical disciplines within the utilities or power transmission sector. You lead by example, with an uncompromising commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards. You are organised, a clear communicator, and thrive in a dynamic site environment.
Key Requirements:
· A recognised apprenticeship or proven experience in a Mechanical or Electrical trade.
· A valid EUSR card for Substations is a mandatory requirement for this role.
· Proven experience working on HV substation projects.
· Experience in a supervisory or chargehand capacity, with the ability to direct and motivate a team.
· In-depth knowledge of safe systems of work, including risk assessments and method statements.
· A strong team player with excellent communication skills.
· CSCS/ECS Card (desirable).
· SSSTS or SMSTS qualification (desirable).
Key Responsibilities:
· Supervise and direct a team of operatives on site, ensuring full compliance with all safety protocols.
· Interpret work packages, drawings, and method statements to ensure work is completed correctly.
· Conduct toolbox talks and briefings.
· Ensure all plant, tools, and equipment are used safely and are fit for purpose.
· Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control.
· Complete all necessary site documentation accurately and on time.
· Liaise with site management and other trades to ensure efficient workflow.
